An industrial-grade UV sterilizer built on a schedule 80 body, rated for high wattage and full sun exposure where a lighter housing would chalk and fail. Clears green water by killing single-celled algae as the water passes the lamp.
How the sizes work
The first five sizes are single-lamp units — the wattage is the lamp. Above 119W, a bigger number does not mean a bigger lamp: it means more 119W lamps sharing one housing. A 238W is two 119W lamps, a 476W is four. Putting them in a single chamber, instead of plumbing several separate sterilizers in series, is what saves space and pipework.
More lamps means more UV output, and more UV output means the unit can treat more water. W. Lim's sizing chart rates the single-lamp 119W at 10,320 GPH and the two-lamp 238W at 12,600 GPH.
Which size to buy
The 119W single lamp is the size we recommend for most koi ponds. Step down only if the pond is small or the equipment space is tight. Step up to the multi-lamp units when the pond is large, heavily stocked, or fighting green water that keeps coming back.
