Breeder: Ozumi Ikarashi
Ozumi Ikarashi Koi Farm (大積 五十嵐養鯉場) is in Ozumi-Tashiro, Nagaoka, Niigata. Seiki Ikarashi founded it in 1965, aged sixteen, working with his father and under guidance from Izumiya. Hidetoshi Ikarashi runs it today with his uncle Kazuhiro. (Several unrelated Niigata farms carry the Ikarashi name — this is the Ozumi one.)
This is a Kawarigoi and metallics farm, not a Gosanke farm, and its real claim is Kikokuryu. Kin Kikokuryu originated here, from a Kin Showa crossed over Kumonryu, and Beni Kikokuryu followed. Alongside them they breed Kujaku, Ochiba, Chagoi, Goshiki, Asagi, Ginrin Asagi and Yuki Asagi, Kigoi and Yamabuki Ogon.
Kikokuryu are metallic Doitsu koi that behave like weather. The pattern moves — black surging and receding across a platinum base with season, temperature and age — so the fish is never quite the same twice. Beni Kikokuryu adds red into that, and a good one in summer is as dramatic as koi get. If you want a pond that looks different every month rather than a fixed composition, this is the farm.

Everything here was imported by House of Koi. We chose almost every older koi individually at the farm, and those are one-of-a-kind: each listing carries video of that exact fish with its size, sex and year born, and closes when that fish sells. Tosai are bought both ways: we pick many out of the pond ourselves, and others come as a mix we chose at the farm, in which case the listing covers a group of young koi rather than one named fish.
One of our deepest collections: Beni Ginga and Kin Ginga, Beni Kikokuryu, Kumonryu, Kujaku and Doitsu Kujaku, Ginrin Goshiki, Shusui, Sakura Ogon and Tancho pieces.
