Aqua Meds Sludge Remover 1 lb

Sludge Remover is a triple-strength beneficial bacteria made for rock and gravel bottom ponds, where fish waste, uneaten food and leaves settle between the stones and turn into black, sulfur-smelling muck that no net can reach. The bacteria digest that muck in place, remove the phosphorus that feeds algae, and clear the yellow tint and odor that come with it. 100% natural, no harsh chemicals, and safe for pets, filters, plants and wildlife.

How to use it

Start with 2 ounces per 1,000 gallons, then maintain with 1 ounce (one scoop) per 1,000 gallons every other week. For small ponds, a quarter scoop treats 250 gallons, a half scoop 500 and three-quarters 750. Stop dosing when the water drops below 50°F, which in Miami means it runs year round. Do not use alongside antibiotics, formalin or potassium permanganate; after a chemical treatment, do a partial water change, run carbon for 24 hours, then triple the maintenance dose for two weeks.

Coverage

This 1 lb container treats 16,000 gallons, about four months of maintenance on a 2,000-gallon pond.

If the bottom of your pond is a liner or concrete rather than gravel, Organic Control does the same job at a gentler strength.
