Aqua Meds Organic Control 1 lb

Organic Control is a copper-free, professional-strength beneficial bacteria that digests the organic debris that collects in a pond: leaves, fish waste, uneaten food and the muck they turn into. As it breaks that material down it removes hydrogen sulfide, the rotten-egg gas that builds up in the bottom layer and the source of most pond odors, and it lowers the nutrient load that feeds green water and string algae. Water quality becomes more stable because the filter has less to deal with.

When we use it

After a leaf drop, after a big feeding season, and in any pond that smells when you stir the bottom. It is copper free, which matters in a koi pond, and safe for fish, plants, pets and wildlife.

How to use it

Dose per the label directions for your pond volume, dissolving the powder in pond water before adding it, with good aeration. As with any bacteria, keep it away from antibiotics, formalin and potassium permanganate; if you have treated recently, do a partial water change first.

Coverage

2 lb treats up to 32,000 gallons; this 1 lb container treats up to 16,000 gallons, several months of maintenance on a typical backyard koi pond.

For rock and gravel bottom ponds, Sludge Remover is the stronger option; for ammonia and nitrite problems, use Dual Blend.
